Tonight was the Purple Meet for the Ionia Girls Varsity Swim Team. The girls were swimming in honor or in memory of their loved ones, raising $110.04 for Ionia Community Awareness. They certainly swam a meet that would make their loved ones proud. Not only did they bring home the win in a very close meet, they had 23 personal best swims. The girls took first in 9 out of 12 events, but what mattered just as much were the girls who fought for their race and took second through fifth. The depth of points made the difference. Every point mattered!
Highlights on the meet included:
First in the 200 Medley Relay, team of Pauli Marker, Shelly Regain, Courtney Lepien and Jillian Merrifield.
Alina Dueren took first in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle.
