Thursday night was the final league jamboree for the CAAC White Division Cross Country Runners. The girls of Ionia took 2nd place in this race and finished with second place in the league behind Lansing Catholic. There were many personal records set at this final meet before regionals. Senior Emily Peterson was the first Ionia girl to finish. She came in 3rd place with a personal record of 20:30. Senior Ally Diebel came in 4th with a time of 21:07. Freshman Jordyn Diebel was 5th overall with a PR of 21:11, freshman Maddie Hanulcik was 10th with a PR of 21:36, and sophomore Avery Roundtree came in 14th with a PR of 22:15. Five other girls on the Ionia team set personal records at this league meet. Those runners include: Tejia Castle (22:24), Kimberlyn Hollon-Morseau (22:58), Josie Phelps (23:01), Breann Wandell (23:58) and Emmily Reisbig (26:08).
Many of the runners finished with an All Conference or Honorable Mention All Conference title. All Conference runners were: Ally Diebel, Emily Peterson, Jordyn Diebel, Maddie Hanulcik, and Avery Roundtree. Finishing with Honorable Mention was Kimberlyn Hollon-Morseau.
Ionia’s Varsity Cross Country team will compete at Regionals on Friday, October 26th at Uncle John’s Cider Mill. The boys will run at 3:00 and the girls will compete at 4:00.
