The varsity girls finished 19th out of 34 teams at the Greater Lansing Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. Emily Peterson was the first Ionia girl to cross the finish line with a time of 21:16 coming in 65th place. This was a personal record for Peterson. Ally Diebel came in 85th with a time of 21:41, even though another athlete stepped on her heel and took off one of her shoes in the first half mile. Maddie Hanulcik and Jordyn Diebel both finished with a time of 22:10 to come in 95th and 96th place respectively. Both Hanulcik and Diebel set new personal records today also. Avery Roundtree ran a 23:14 to come in 133rd place.
Thursday, October 18th will be the final league jamboree for this year. The meet will be hosted by Lansing Sexton at Grand Woods Park in Lansing. The boys will run at 5:00 and the girls will run at 5:40. The Ionia girls’ team finished 2nd in both of the first two jamborees.
