The Bulldogs A-squad ended their season clicking on all cylinders. Despite playing a weaker opponent, they played great team ball, which hasn’t always been evident against other weaker opponents. The Bulldogs started the game off on fire, getting 9-0 in less than a minute. The Bulldogs held back on their full court pressure after that. The Gladiators were able to settle down a bit, but Ionia still went into the half up by 13. It was evident that the Gladiators were trying to play through their best player. He had 20 of the teams 22 first half points. At half-time, we made adjustments on how to guard him. He didn’t score in the second half, and the Bulldogs held the Gladiators to just 5 points in the second half. Offensively, the Bulldogs pushed the ball in transition, making a lot of good passes to hit the open man. Most impressively, when the Bulldogs were in their half court offense, they moved the ball well against Fowlerville’s zone defense, and were able to find a lot of open looks to capitalize on. The Bulldogs were paced by Mason Doty with 18 points. He was followed by his brother Max Doty with 11 points. Having the best night of season scoring and rebounding was Tyson McDiarmid with 10 points. Carter Castillo chipped in 8 points, and Matthew McCoy hit a couple threes to add in 6 points.
