Ionia Cross Country Supports Community Awareness in Big Way

20170915_212540

The Ionia Cross Country runners spent their Community Awareness Week raising money to support their community.  Unlike other programs who had games with jersey ceremonies, XC did not have a home meet during purple week.  Coach Lisa Wandell and her runners found different ways to raise money throughout the week by having a collection jar at practice, where they were able to raise $835.00 in donations from family and friends.  They also held a bake sale and partnered with local business Sozo’s to hold a bake sale that raised an additional $500.00.   Bringing their total donation to $1,335.00 to the Community Awareness Organization.  Congratulations to Coach Wandell and her team for setting such a great example on the importance of giving back to your community.
